I took a few weeks off after producing a body of work for my gallery show in July to spend some time reflecting. I thought about what I accomplished in the past several months and what I still want to accomplish going forward. I took time to reflect on the work that I created; what I like, what I don't, what I want to scrape off, start over or revisit.
Time off can be a good thing. It gives me perspective, inspiration, and hope.
Over the past month I worked on a small series of 8x8 inch panels. It was fun to go back to a small size after painting such large panels -- 30x40 or 30x60 -- which is very difficult and time consuming to do with beeswax!!
When I started these little pieces I didn't intend for them to go together but the finished paintings group so nicely together. To me they represent what's ahead; whether it be the calming sea, stormy waves, or a gentle horizon.
These are now available in my Etsy shop.
